Let me explain.
I started playing gigs over ten years ago. I was in my mid twenties, playing wherever I could and figuring it out as I went. I didn't have any brand at all and was just picking up gigs as a vocalist where I could. It wasn't until after COVID that I made the decision to go fully all in (but that's a story for another day) and when I made that decision, I needed a name fast. Music By Elise was simple, clear and did exactly what it needed to do - it told people what I did and who was doing it. For years it worked beautifully.
But somewhere along the way, I grew into something bigger than the name. I wasn't just Elise playing music anymore. I was a live acoustic musician AND a DJ. I was building an agency, representing other artists, creating experiences that went way beyond one person with a guitar. The name felt like a t-shirt I'd outgrown - still mine, just not quite right anymore.
So I started thinking about what I actually do. What the thing is that I care about most. And it kept coming back to the same idea - sound and the way it makes people feel. The right song at the right moment. The goosebumps. The way a room changes when the music clicks. The honey of it all - that golden, warm, sticky feeling that the best music leaves behind.
Sound Honey felt right the moment I thought of it. Warm, considered, a little unexpected. Something you could feel before you fully understood it. Exactly the kind of music I want to make.
The rebrand has been a long time coming (like, I've spent almost a full year on this) - and honestly, it's felt less like starting over and more like finally arriving. Five years of doing this full time, ten years of playing music at events and over five hundred weddings and events, and a business I'm genuinely proud of. Sound Honey is where all of that lives now.
